“Celebrating and Documenting Life”
I love making pictures. It’s that simple.
One of my favorite books – mostly because of the title – is John Berger’s “And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief as Photos.” Photography allows our faces, and these fleeting moments of our lives to be captured, re-lived, shared, and remembered. That’s why I became a photographer.
And, that’s why I love photographing weddings. It is an honor to share in the most important day in a couple’s life and document it for them, and that is how I view my participation in your day.
In terms of style, my approach is mainly documentary in nature. I have an affinity for black and white candids that capture the emotion and spirit of you and your family and guests. But I also love color, as well as portraits. I can produce a mix of color and B&W, portraits and candids, in both 35mm and medium formats, based on what we decide together will be most appropriate for your taste.
I rarely work with an assistant, as I believe that the photographer should be the least intrusive part of your day. I have attended too many weddings as a guest where the photographer is a dominant, over-bearing force – that is not my role. My role as your photographer is to be present to capture the experiences as they happen, not to create them.
I look forward to celebrating and documenting the most important day of your lives.
Because every wedding and every client is unique, so too, is every wedding package that I produce. Rates can vary anywhere from $1500-3000, depending on the amount of time required of me on your day, as well as the amount of film shot. I recommend to prospective clients to choose a wedding photographer who:
1) makes images you admire and are in the style that you want for yourselves,
2) has a personality that will work to put you and your family at ease, and
3) accomplishes these tasks in a way that fits within your given budget. As a result, I like to meet individually with each client to custom-tailor a photography package that meets the needs for us all.
Testimonials
"You captured the wedding in a totally personal style that caught us at our best."
Anne Bement, Mother of the Bride“You seemed to be enjoying the events as much as we were. Your enthusiasm for photography livened us all up, so we didn't seem to be just 'going through the ritual wedding pictures.' Your professionalism is of course obvious in the results.”
Mary Lindstrom, Mother of the Groom“Geordie did a magnificent job photographing our wedding day. He was professional while making us very comfortable, and unobtrusive while managing to capture every important moment. We ended up with a beautiful mix of candids and portraits in color and black and white that skillfully document the most important day of our lives. I would highly recommend Geordie to anyone.”
Nicole (Bement) Lindstrom, Bride“We couldn't have been happier with our wedding photos. Geordie always seemed to be at the right place at the right time. He captured the most memorable moments without being 'in your face.' We give him two thumbs up!”
Pete Lindstrom, Groom"We were fortunate to have a beautiful setting to work with and Geordie's creativity and skill captured even more than the beautiful surroundings. His work genuinely portrayed the feeling and excitement of our wedding day. He helped us maintain the notion that 'this is our wedding day'. Geordie worked with us to make sure we were getting the photographs we wanted as well as so many impromptu moments that cannot be recreated. It felt like he was our discrete guest with a fantastic eye for memories and detail that should not be lost. Geordie meshed with our family and friends so that it was easy to work with him and capture great images at the same time."
Kathy and Mark Manninen, Bride & GroomWritten in a card from Amy (Hamlin) Flindt to her mother Carol Hamlin, from Germany (March 20, 2004):
". . .my life over here has been pretty lonely, and I've been meaning to share with you that one of my solace-seeking strategies has been to 're-live' December 27, 2003 [my Minnesota wedding reception]. I brought a copy of Geordie's CD [with reception pictures] with me thinking that it would help assuage my homesickness, and it has worked brilliantly!"“Geordie was recommended by a well-known artist friend of ours whose medium just happens to be photography. We trusted the referral without reservations and still Geordie's work amazed us! What we loved the most were the moments and the moods he captured: spontaneity, intimacy, humor, tenderness, wistfulness, joy. They are by far the most endearing and beloved photographs of a wonderful evening of love!”
Carol Hamlin, Mother of the Bride"We thought he really took the time to capture everything that we wanted. He was everywhere, prepared, willing to work with everyone, and knew how to get it done quickly and professionally. We were blessed.”
Erin & John Foley, Bride and Groom"Geordie's sense of style and ability to capture the moment while remaining almost invisible allowed people to relax and made our wedding photos really special. And he's a great guy to deal with!"
Dave & Heidi Carson, Bride and Groom“We were certainly all very pleased with your work at the Dines/Terlinden wedding. We appreciated your casual, friendly, yet professional style. The wedding party and even some of our guests commented on how you managed to be where the action was while seeming inconspicuous and somewhat invisible. Best of all, the pictures are incredible! They truly capture the joy and excitement of the day in a fresh, honest, and real way.”
